Social feeds
A social feed connects a social media channel to Trak so its posts flow in automatically. Each time a feed refreshes, Trak creates a post for anything new on that channel, and those posts show up on your Timeline where you can assign them to partnerships.
You'll find feeds under Social in the main navigation, on the Feeds tab. The Timeline tab next to it shows the posts those feeds have brought in.
Who can manage feeds
Managing feeds — syncing, deactivating, reassigning, and deleting them — requires the Site Admin group with the Editor access role. Managers, Team Members, Collaborators, and anyone with a Viewer or Contributor role can see feeds and their posts but can't change them.
How feeds get set up
Your Customer Success Manager sets up new feeds for you. Tell them the channel you want to track and whether it's one of your own channels or a partner's (see Feed ownership below), and they'll add it. Connecting a channel involves a few steps on the provider's side, so your CSM handles that part for you.
Which platforms are supported
Trak pulls posts from these platforms:
- X (Twitter)
- YouTube
- TikTok
- Bluesky
How often feeds refresh
Active feeds refresh every hour. On each refresh, Trak brings in any new posts from the channel and adds them to your Timeline.
What happens to those new posts depends on whether Social Intelligence is turned on:
- With Social Intelligence on, each new post is analyzed and matched to partnerships automatically. See Social Intelligence.
- Without it, posts come in unassigned. You can set up social campaigns to match posts to partnerships by scanning the post text for keywords.
Syncing a feed manually
To pull in new posts without waiting for the hourly refresh, open the Feeds tab, find the feed, and choose Sync from its actions.
You can sync a feed once every 10 minutes. If you try again sooner, Trak asks you to wait. Sync is only available on active feeds.
Feed ownership
Every feed is either Owned or a Partnership feed. This tells Trak whose channel it is and changes how posts are matched to partnerships.
- Owned feeds are your organization's own channels — the posts you publish. Trak matches each post to a partnership when that partner's logo, brand, or name appears in the post.
- Partnership feeds belong to a partner you sponsor. Every post from the feed is treated as that partner's, and Trak looks for your own brand in the post — so you can follow your partners' channels and catch the posts that feature you.
Deactivating a feed
Deactivating a feed stops it from pulling in new posts. Every post it has already brought in stays exactly where it is, assignments and all. To deactivate, open the feed's actions on the Feeds tab and choose Deactivate; choose Activate to start it pulling again.
Use this when a channel is dormant, or when you want to make room for a different feed without losing a channel's history. Only active feeds count toward the number of feeds your plan includes, so deactivating one frees up a slot. Your feed allowance is part of your agreement — your CSM can tell you where you stand.
Deleting a feed
Deleting a feed is permanent. When you delete one, Trak asks what to do with its posts:
- Reassign the posts to another feed. Choose a destination feed in the delete dialog and its posts move there before the feed is removed.
- Delete the posts too. If you don't choose a destination, the feed's posts are deleted along with it.
To delete, open the feed's actions on the Feeds tab, choose Delete, and either pick a feed to reassign the posts to or confirm the deletion as-is.
