Locations
A location is a place your events happen — a stadium, an arena, a campus, "Home", "Away". Locations are where you keep that list, and each one can carry a default color that events at that location take automatically. Locations are used by events: when you create or import an event, you choose its location, and the location's color pre-fills the event's color on the calendar.
Who can manage locations?
Locations are managed by Site Admins, under Settings → Locations. You also need the Editor role to add, change, delete, or reorder them — a Site Admin with the Viewer or Contributor role can see the list but not change it. Everyone else doesn't see the Locations settings.
What's on a location
Open Settings from the left sidebar, then choose Locations. Each location has:
- Name. Required. What the location is called wherever events are shown.
- Color. Optional. The default color events at this location take. The field reads: "Events assigned to this location take this color unless they have their own." See the colors below.
- Location Number. Optional. The location's own number, such as a venue or store number.
- External ID. Optional. If the location came from another system during an import, it keeps that system's identifier here.
Drag a location's row up or down to reorder the list; the new order saves as soon as you drop it. That order is the order locations appear in the event form's location picker.
How the default color works
Setting a color on a location is a convenience, not a lock:
- When you create an event and pick a location, Trak fills the color field with that location's default color. You can still change it — pick any color and your choice sticks.
- When you import events with only a location (no color of their own), each event takes its location's default color.
- When there's no color to inherit — the event has no color of its own and its location has no default (or it has no location) — the event shows in the Workspace color.
So a location's color decides the starting color for its events; an event always keeps a color you set explicitly on it.
The colors you can choose
The same set of colors is used for events, locations, and statuses:

You'll see these names everywhere a color is chosen. The Workspace color follows your workspace's branding, so it isn't a fixed shade the way the others are.
What happens if I delete a location?
Deleting a location doesn't delete its events. When you delete one, Trak asks whether to move its events to another location:
- Choose a location to move them to, and those events take on the new location (and can pick up its default color going forward).
- Leave it blank, and the events simply lose their location. As the prompt says: "Events at this location will have no location unless you move them to another one."
Either way the events themselves stay on the calendar.
